There was a time when Black Friday offers were for one day only, a way for retailers to gain some valuable cashflow in the run-up to Christmas, stimulating the market to crack on with Christmas shopping. More recently we've noticed that Black Friday has been extended beyond a week - and in many cases for a month. It's not something we have ever done. We are a small company that values customers and we wouldn't want to disappoint any.
Imagine if you had just ordered a pair of wellies and then along came a one-off super price cut discount? We wouldn't want our loyal customers who already know and love our wellies to feel upset, thinking they should have waited to see if we did an offer.
Some companies slash prices on a regular basis - and customers know this, waiting for the deals to come along. They may even over price their wellies to make sure when they do their regular discounts, they are still making a margin. We don't do that - because we like to make sure our wellies are good value all year round.
Our customers value our wellies because they do what they say on the tin. It doesn't matter when they buy them, they know they will do the job. They also trust us to buy and sell wellies as reasonably as we can. That way we all get a fair deal.
Keeping our business going: as a small family run business, we can not afford to slash prices, like any welly producer, we have production and transport costs that remain the same even if we slash prices. To us, it is not a viable business model to rely on fluctuating prices and sales across the year.
